Experience a different adventure to Machu Picchu with the 4-day Inca Jungle, combining trekking, nature, and adventure activities. Travel through mountain trails surrounded by lush vegetation and spectacular landscapes as you descend from the Andes into the cloud forest. The journey combines hiking and exciting outdoor experiences before reaching Machu Picchu, making it a great option for travelers looking for an active and adventurous way to discover the Inca citadel.
Travelers will be picked up between 6:30 and 7:00 am. We will then head to the Sacred Valley of the Incas. We will pass through picturesque villages and beautiful landscapes.
After arriving at Ollantaytambo, we will take a break before continuing on by bus for 1 hour to reach the Abra Malaga around 11:00 am. (4350 masl).
From here, we will depart on bikes, descending for 3 hrs. We will pass through rural villages, rivers, orchards, and streams before reaching Huamanmarca around 1:30 pm.
Later, a private bus will take the group to a city called Santa Maria. (30 minutes)
After lunch and a short break you have the option to do river rafting. If you decide to go, we will raft for 2 hrs, always accompanied by a professional kayak instructor that will take care of the passengers all the time.
Those that didn’t book the rafting tour, will go with an assistant guide on our private bus for 20 min to the next city, Santa Rosa. Thereafter we will walk for 45 min until arriving at the lodge, La Choza. The bus will be waiting for those that went rafting and they will be taken to Santa Rosa to walk for approximately 45 min to join the rest of the group at the lodge, located in a village called Pispitayoc (lunch-dinner).
After enjoying an outdoor breakfast, we will walk along the riverbanks and hike up for 30 min. Along the way, we will see small coffee plantations and fruit trees. In this area, it is possible to see many types of orchids, and birds, as we will be in the high forest, a paradise of biodiversity on the Inca jungle route.
After arriving at the top of the mountain we will see the whole valley of Urubamba.
The group will descend for 2.5 hrs to the village of Qellomayo. Lunch will be served here. After a break, we will trek for 3 hrs through farms, rivers and waterfalls until arriving at the hot springs of Santa Teresa.
We will take a break and later the group will continue walking for 40 min until reaching the city of Santa Teresa, where we will sleep in a local house (breakfast-lunch-dinner).
