Discover the history and landscapes of the Sacred Valley of the Incas on a full-day tour from Cusco. This Sacred Valley Tour begins at 8:00 a.m. with pickup from your hotel in downtown Cusco. We will travel through the highlands of Cusco towards the Sacred Valley.
The first stop will be an alpaca farm, where you will meet South American camelids: llamas, alpacas, vicuñas, and guanacos, and learn about their differences, importance, and habits. Next, we will arrive at the Taray viewpoint, a panoramic spot offering breathtaking views of the Sacred Valley, the Urubamba River, and the farmlands of the Peruvian Andes.
The following visit is to the archaeological site of Pisac, an Inca complex high in the mountains; we will explore its lower section. This site features temples, dwellings, and hundreds of Inca tombs surrounded by massive walls. You will also have the opportunity to explore its agricultural terraces. Afterward, we’ll descend to the local village to visit the Pisac artisan market, where artisans craft and sell their products directly. From there, it’s just a one-hour drive to Urubamba, where you’ll enjoy lunch at a local restaurant with a buffet featuring fresh, regional produce. Vegetarian options are also available.
After lunch, we’ll head to the charming town of Ollantaytambo, known as the “Last Living Inca City.” It preserves its original Inca streets, still inhabited by local residents. As you explore, you’ll see the Inca fortress built to defend its population. Incidentally, Ollantaytambo is also the gateway to Machu Picchu.
Our final stop will be Chinchero, a former royal estate and ceremonial center during Inca times. It is said to have been a favorite of the tenth Inca, Túpac Inca Yupanqui. During your visit, you’ll see an Inca palace, its colonial church, and learn about the weaving and natural dyeing techniques of its artisans. The tour ends in the late afternoon, returning to your hotel in Cusco around 6:00 p.m.
