Day 1: CUSCO – CITY TOUR

Upon arrival at Cusco International Airport, our staff will be waiting for you to assist you and transfer you to your hotel. Afterwards, enjoy a guided tour of this fascinating city, which was once the capital of the Inca Empire.

The tour begins with a visit to the Cathedral, the most impressive monument on Cusco’s Plaza de Armas. You will then visit the Convent of Santo Domingo, built on top of the Inca temple of Qorikancha, one of the most important temples dedicated to the worship of the sun. According to ancient chronicles, its walls were covered with gold and decorated with golden representations of nature.

Continue toward the hills surrounding Cusco, where you will find the impressive Sacsayhuaman Fortress. Its enormous stone walls offer spectacular panoramic views of the city. The tour continues to Qenqo, an archaeological complex used for religious purposes, where it is believed that the Incas performed rituals related to agriculture.

The tour ends at Puka Pukara, which means “Red Fortress” in Quechua. This architectural complex is believed to have served a military purpose and features several rooms, plazas, baths, aqueducts, and towers. It is thought to have been used by the Inca’s entourage while the ruler rested at Tambomachay.

After completing the visit, you will return to Cusco’s historic center, bringing this fascinating day to an end.
