Itinerary

Day 1: City Tour Arequipa

We will begin our tour by visiting Arequipa’s main attractions, such as the Plaza de Armas, the Arequipa Cathedral, and the Church of the Society of Jesus, where we will give a brief explanation of the church’s history and construction. We will also visit the Cloisters of the Society of Jesus, located in the Historic Center, to the left of the Church of the Society, featuring sculpted stone arches and beautiful corridors. Finally, we will visit the Casa Tristán del Pozo, a building whose facade pediment is considered by many architectural scholars to be the finest example of typical Arequipa ornamentation in Peru. Afterwards, we will visit the Plaza and Church of San Francisco, one of the most beautiful buildings in the city, being the fourth church and third religious house. Then we will go to the San Lázaro neighborhood, the most representative neighborhood of Arequipa. Continuing on, we will visit the Monastery of Santa Catalina de Siena, which remained closed for centuries. This citadel, built of adobe and sillar stone with magnificent frescoes, occupies an area of 20,000 square meters. We will have the opportunity to walk through its narrow streets, small squares, and cloisters with enormous sillar walls and rustic stone washbasins.
