Itinerary

Half Day: Huaypo Lagoon & Checoq ATV Tour

The adventure begins with pickup from your hotel or Airbnb in Cusco, followed by an approximately 45-minute trip by tourist transportation to our base of operations in Cruzpata – Chequerec. Firstly, upon arrival, our professional guides will provide a detailed safety talk and technical instructions on operating the machines. To guarantee a safe and fun experience, we will carry out a 10 to 15 minute practice session in an open field area, allowing each participant to become familiar with the vehicle before officially starting the Laguna Huaypo and Checoq ATV tour. Next, we will begin the route on our ATVs heading to the archaeological center of Checoq. This site is a hidden gem of the Sacred Valley that preserves important agricultural platforms and stone warehouses from the Inca era. After exploring these historical vestiges and enjoying the panoramic views of the snow-capped mountains of Chicón and Verónica, we will continue the tour along rural roads towards the traditional town of Maras. Later, we will arrive at the Tiobamba Temple, a beautiful 16th century colonial church that stands as a historical landmark in the middle of the Andean crop fields, offering a perfect setting for professional photographs. Finally, the adrenaline-filled trip will take us to the impressive Huaypo Lagoon. This natural water mirror is surrounded by extensive fields of quinoa, potatoes and corn, offering a peaceful atmosphere to connect with nature. You’ll have free time to explore the shore, learn about the local ecosystem, and capture the stunning reflections of the mountains in the water. Once the visit is over, we will return on the ATVs to the base in Cruzpata to board our private transportation back to Cusco, ending the service near the main square of the city.
